Bihar election: 45 pct voter turnout till 3 pm in third phase

Around 45 per cent of 1.03 crore electors cast their votes till 3 pm on Thursday in 48 Assembly constituencies which went to polls in the third phase of Bihar elections.
Altogether 145 people were detained and 58 vehicles seized under preventive measures at different places during the polls, Director-General of Police Neelmani said.
Voters boycotted polling at four booths -- two in Bettiah assembly constituency where state BJP minister Ranu Devi is in the fray and one each in Bhore and Raxual Assembly constituencies.
The polls were held in East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan and Vaishali districts. While polling in constituencies of Ramnagar, Patepur and Balmikingar concluded at 3 pm, voting in other two Maoist-hit constituencies -- Amnour and Taraiya was extended to 4 pm.
A presiding officer was arrested on the instructions of an executive magistrate from a booth in Gopalganj Assembly constituency for electoral irregularities, officials said.
